When I close up the restaurant I work in one of the jobs is to cover the wooden chopping block with salt to absorb grease and help keep it clean. I took this chore and decide it to make it an opportunity.
I found that the block is just large enough to write a haiku in the salt. They reflect work, life, or sometimes whatever weird joke was rattling around my head as I cleaned. I’ve decided to share them, and write a little to put each in context. My hope is to share little snapshots of my day-to-day life, and bring some beauty to the mundane.
I have a little backlog of these and I work closes irregularly. I’m going to be posting once a week on a Tuesday, so keep an eye out.
