Following in my tradition of writing poetry about pride (check out Cry out for Marsha P., Queerdom, and Stonewall, Why A Rainbow?, and What If Pride Was Silent?) I wrote a little satire inspired by The Discourse (TM) about respectability at Pride.
No kink at pride
Somebody think of the children
No drag at pride
… unless we can laugh at it
No anarchists at pride
They’re rude to rainbow cops
No politics at pride
It’s never been about that
No immigrants at pride
Only pink deportation vans
No rainbows at pride
That’s just for the vodka
No kissing at pride
Love means love, but never lust
No queers at pride
They make the companies uncomfortable
